The SMARTWATER project is organizing the first of the three planned summer schools in scope of the project activities. The first summer school will be organized on the topic of the Integrated approach for agricultural water management. 

The Faculty of Agriculture of the University of Banja Luka is the organizer and the event will take place in Trebinje from August 30 to September 3 according to the hybrid model. All students and most of the guest and teachers will be physically present. The guest teachers will give lectures either live or online via video link.

The purpose of the summer school is to train students, in particular, early stage researchers (ESR), where they will get familiar within the basics of the crop irrigation, the crop water requirements, evapotranspiration, fertilization and land degradation.

Students will also have oportunity to learn the different crop growth simulation models applied in crop irrigation monitoring. The crop growth models that will be teached simulate growth, development and yield of crops as a function of the soil-plant-atmosphere-management dynamics.

The field visits to the main important horticultural producers, old and new irrigation system practices in Hercegovina will be also organized
